Geocaching is a big, outdoor, treasure hunt, and park rangers at The Dalles Lock and Dam invite the public to take part in an amazing race, geocache style, between 1 and 4 p.m. Saturday, March 29.
Seufert and Patterson parks will have five hidden geocaches. With a GPS unit or smart phone app, visitors can enter coordinates, and follow the path to a hidden treasure.
Visitors can arrive at any time between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The event is open to all geocache skill levels, aimed toward beginners and families. Park rangers will offer introductions and guidance to geocaching to make this a memorable day with family and friends. All participants will receive treasures from each geocache, as well as a certificate upon completion of the race.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own GPS units or smart phones. A limited supply of GPS units will be available to be checked out to adult participants. More information about geocaching can be found at www.geocach
