Discovery Center offers activities for area youth

The Gorge Discovery Center recently announced that children and students up through high school age will receive free admission to the center if accompanied by an adult through April 13.

Children and students will be able to enjoy a scavenger hunt held throughout the museum as well as a variety of crafts activities held in the re-done Kids’ Explorer Room.

A special kids’ menu will also be in place at the Basalt Rock Cafe, which will be open daily during the break.

Parents, friends and family members accompanying students will have the opportunity to walk on the native plant trail to view the budding wildflowers.

Visitors will also have the chance to see birds of prey up close at the raptor shows as they resume a daily schedule of shows at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The Gorge Discovery Center and Wasco County Historical Museum is the official interpretive center for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic area.

The center is located at 5000 Discovery Drive in The Dalles, OR.
