Colquitt, White get golf kickoff title

Craig Colquitt and Randy White set the bar high amongst their peers at the annual kickoff event Saturday at The Dalles Country Club.

Colquitt and White claimed championship status with a 119 to pull past the field.

In the ‘A’ flight, Dane Telles and Tom Krueger notched the low gross marker of 141, besting Bob Fimple and Ken Walker (143) by two strokes.

There was a three-way deadlock in the low net classification, as Pete Kelly and Jack Hay, Tim Piefer and Ric Knight, and Bill Sallee and Paul Schanno all wound up with scorecards reading 120.

Gary Briggs and Dale Klindt cruised to a nine-stroke victory in the ‘B’ flight with a 150 to move past Jay Kenslow and Rick Cyphers, who tallied a 159.

Also in the ‘B’ flight, John and Ivan Middleton had a 120 for tops on the low net side, defeating Don Slusher and Doug Bansch (121) by one shot.

Telles and Krueger (71) ended in a tie with Fimple and Walker (71) for first place in the low gross class in the Sunday honey pot event.

Mike Jesch and Austin Justesen (73) wound up in a tie with Dave Sherrell and Chuck Langley (73) for third place gross.

In the low net division, Colquitt and White added an exacta to their winning status with a combined 54 telling the story.

David Re and Vinny Zanobelli, along with Briggs and Klindt each churned out a second-place tie with 58 marks.

Colquitt and White clinched the trifecta with a win the special event by one stroke (119).

There was a four-way tie for second place.
