Softball squad swept on the road

Hood River Valley pitcher Kayla Byers was her dominant self in the circle and the offense did the rest in a two-game sweep Saturday in a Columbia River Conference softball tussle in Hood River.

Byers kept the Eagle Indians off-balance in the opening game with a no-hitter in a lopsided 10-0 trouncing.

The Eagles kept the pace in the second game using a high-powered offense to post a 12-1 victory to pull off the sweep.

The Dalles (7-14 overall, 1-7) falls to No. 19 in the 5A rankings and No. 3-ranked Hood River Valley (16-5, 6-2) stays in second place one game behind Pendleton.

The Eagles and Tribe hit the diamond again at 4 p.m. today.
