Polls close tonight

The polls will close at 8 p.m. tonight, May 20, and voters who did not receive a ballot, or have misplaced it, can come to the Wasco County Clerk’s office, 511 Washington Street, until closing to get it re-issued. Postmarks do not count.

As of press time, the return rate on ballots was 28.95 percent.

The Rotarians will collect ballots at the Fifth Street entrance to the courthouse until 8 p.m.

There is a drop box at Maupin City Hall, 408 Deschutes Ave., for citizens in south county.

DeOra Patton, the Maupin city clerk, reports that many voters have been using this drop box.

A deputy from the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office will pick up the drop box at 8 p.m. and deliver it to the county clerk for processing, sometime around 9 p.m.

First election results will be announced at 8:01 p.m. and then about every 45 minutes to an hour until the count is completed.
