Entered to win $100,000 dog park
The Dalles has been nominated to the third annual “Bark for Your Park” contest through June 7 by Northern Wasco County Parks and Recreation District employee Jennifer Botts.
PetSafe invited all U.S. communities to participate in the third annual “Bark for Your Park” contest on May 7. One city will be awarded $100,000 to build a local dog park and four other pet passionate finalists will also receive $25,000.
"As a current board member of the Northern Wasco County Parks & Recreation District and as Former Mayor of City of The Dalles, I'm in full support of this long-awaited space for a community dog park. Incorporating a dog park for the many dog-loving populous is what puppy dreams are made of and will add amazing value to the quality of life in our community,” said Nikki Lesich.
The Board of Directors for district voted unanimously to support this venture and agreed to dedicated a portion of land on the east side of the 14th Street Reservoir property, owned by the district, for the project. The first 15 Finalists will be announced on June 13, when they will be asked to produce a video and continue barking for their park. The finalist city with the most votes will receive $100,000 to build a PetSafe dog park. Three runner-up and the city with the highest percentage of votes to its population will each receive $25,000. Winners will be announced on August 7.
