Arts and entertainment calendar from Oct. 16

Johnny B is an Alaskan pianist with a thoroughly engaging one-man performance that will satisfy any audience. 
He will inform and entertain as he weaves stories and songs in an up-tempo program backed by video scenes from Alaska. 
The concert is Monday, Oct. 20, at Gateway Presbyterian Church, 1111 Dry Hollow Rd./ 
The Dalles. The concert begins at 7 p.m. sharp. This concert is the second in the Mid Columbia Community Concert 2014-2015 season. 
Individual tickets may be purchased at the door, Columbia River Music and Klindt's Book Sellers. Note: Cost of single ticket purchases can be applied toward a full 5 season ticket.

Oct. 16 — Tales of Terror: Chilling tales for grownups, 7 p.m. at Maryhill Museum. Celebrate the Celtic New Year of Samhain (Halloween) with storyteller Will Hornyak, who draws on Celtic, African, Greek and Native American oral traditions. 16 and older. Cost: $10 for museum members, $12 for non-members. Complimentary hot cider, hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served.

Oct 21 — Little Wonders Science Lab, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m at The Dalles Wasco County Library. Preschoolers age 3 to 5 learn about the world around them through songs, stories and science experiments. Parents and kids both have a great opportunity to explore the wonders of nature with the emphasis on healthy living. Topics include insects, energy, nutrition and more. Tuesdays in October: the 21st and 28th. Instructors are Daniel Kittelson and Tabitha Felker.

Oct. 21-23 — Kramdown Karaoke with DJ B.ill, The Vault209 E 2nd St.

Oct. 22 — Early Release Art at Dry Hollow Elementary Cafeteria, 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. A variety of creative art, games and exercises. Boys and girls in second to 6th grades will learn about colors, shapes, lines, patterns and fun. Fee is $20.00 for those in the Northern Wasco County Park and Recreation District, $23 for those out of district.
