TD hoops struggles in tournament play

Riding high on a five-game winning streak, the state’s 11th ranked 5A girls’ basketball team, The Dalles, hit a pair of roadblocks Monday and Tuesday at the Century Tourney in Hillsboro.

The Riverhawks hit the hardwood Monday night in a battle against Century and lost 52-37.

One night after facing the No. 9 hoops team, TD played against No. 6 Sherwood and played a more competitive game, but still ended up on the short end of a 38-29 loss.

Now with a two-game losing skid, the Riverhawks (5-4 overall) will look to get back on track versus Jefferson.

At 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, TD travels to Bend.

Hawk boys lose 2 in Wilsonville

The Dalles boys’ basketball team is competing against some high-level teams this week in Wilsonville, and have lost two tournament matchups to Wilsonville and Crescent Valley by an average margin of 65 points.

On Monday at the Holiday Inn Winter Invitational Tournament, the Riverhawks went up against top-ranked Wilsonville, and could not stop the Wildcats. Taking a 120-34 loss.

Tuesday, TD ended up losing, 80-36, against Crescent Valley.

The Riverhawks (2-7 overall) hit the floor with the Silverton Foxes (4-3) in the final rounds of tournament action.

After this week of games, TD hosts Bend (3-4) at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2.
