Fire

Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue

June 23, 9:36 a.m. – Personnel responded to the 1400 block of East 14th Street on a smoke investigation. A residence was located that had a picnic table catch fire along with some grass underneath it. The homeowner was putting out the fire with a garden hose. The fire was extinguished by personnel. The cause of the fire was from a cigarette.

July 23, 4:36 p.m. – Personnel responded to the 1200 Block of West 6th Street on a report of a vegetation fire. A few spots of bark chips were found smoldering. They were extinguished.

July 23, 6:05 p.m. – Personnel responded to the 3900 block of 15 Mile Road on a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival smoke was seen coming from the eves of the home. The fire was extinguished. Owners advised they left the home to run some errands and when they came back their landlord was extinguishing a fire with a hose near the area of the dryer vent.

Personnel also responded to four calls for emergency medical services on Tuesday, six on Wednesday and six on Thursday.

Police Reports

The Dalles City

A theft report was taken Thursday morning from the 1200 block of East 9th Street after a victim reported some items were stolen from his porch.

Rebecca Lynn Bichler, 51, The Dalles, was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 400 block of Court Street and is accused of first-degree criminal mistreatment.

An agency assist report was taken Thursday evening from the hospital.

Daniel Michael Joslin, 34, The Dalles, was arrested Thursday evening in the 2500 block of West 2nd Street and is accused of probation violation and fourth-degree domestic assault.

Police responded to the 2600 block of West 6th Street Thursday evening after employees reported a two year old came into the store alone. The father was located in the 2800 block of West 7th Street. He advised he fell asleep and the boy must have wandered off. An informational report was taken.

Police responded to the 3600 block of West 10th Street Thursday evening after a caller reported observing suspicious activity near the football field. Caller observed two subjects near the shed possibly stealing items. Contact was made with a coach who was putting gear away, no problem was found.

Police responded to the 1400 block of East 13th Place Thursday evening after a caller reported a neighbor was caught on their property without permission. Contact was made with the suspect who admitted to tampering the gate so the caller’s dogs could easily escape. The suspect was cited and released for second-degree criminal trespass.

Wasco County

A theft report was taken Thursday morning from Maupin after a victim reported an inflatable kayak was stolen from his vehicle.

An assault report was taken Thursday afternoon from the 3700 block of Pleasant Ridge Road.

Jim Dean Looney, 27, The Dalles, was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of Washington Street on two warrants for first-degree failure to appear.

Mara Ann Siatigi, 39, The Dalles, was arrested Thursday evening in the 4400 block of Highway 30 and is accused of fourth-degree assault.

Floyd Arnold Hooper, 62, Tygh Valley, was arrested Thursday evening in Tygh Valley and is accused of reckless driving and failure to perform the duties of a driver.

Oregon State Police

Michael S. Olson, 37, Portland, was arrested Thursday afternoon during a traffic stop in the 5800 block of Highway 30 and is accused of driving while suspended.

Shawn Eric McGuirk, 44, The Dalles, was arrested Thursday evening during a traffic stop on Interstate 84 westbound, milepost 82 and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants. Tobi Wayne McGuirk, 41, The Dalles, was also arrested and is accused of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of methadone, and two counts of felon in possession of a weapon. He was also arrested on a warrant for failure to pay fines.
