Rolling slowdown

Motorists traveling I-84 east of The Dalles should be prepared for “rolling slowdowns” near the Celilo railroad bridge into July as Western Construction, contractors with the Bonneville Power Administration, use helicopter airlifts to haul electrical transmission lines from the Washington side of the Columbia River to the Oregon side.

The slowdowns, near the Celilo railroad bridge, are planned to keep the highway clear while helicopter operations take place overhead. These operations will continue on an intermittent basis daily from about 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. into the month of July. Operations on Sundays will be from about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
