City’s first dog area unleashed

A “doggy pot” stands at the entrance of Firehouse Park, located in the 600 block of Wasco Drive in the Columbia View Heights neighborhood. The Northern Wasco County Parks and Recreation District plans to unveil an “off-leash” pilot project at the park in May, with dogs allowed in the early morning.

Many attempts have been made to create off-leash dog areas in The Dalles, but Kevin Arbo, executive director of The Dalles Community Dog Park Association, has faith the time has come for pet owners in the region...
