Letter to the editor: Egg drop lesson

To the editor:

Each year at Dry Hollow we have what we like to call "The Great Dry Hollow Egg Drop.”

Our fifth grade students use their engineering skills to create a container that can hold a raw egg and be dropped from three different heights without the egg breaking.

This is a fun event and is enjoyed by other classes at our school and our students' parents as well. For several years now, Sawyers True Value Hardware and Just Ask Rental has been gracious enough to loan us a trailer and lift for the event.

Without the trailer and lift, we could not hold the egg drop event. It is great to have a business like Sawyers here in The Dalles that gives so much to the community without any hesitation at all.

The students and fifth grade teachers would like to thank this business for all they do for the community and us.
