As of Tuesday, November 8, 2016
Wasco County Clerk Lisa Gambee reported Monday evening that 60.97 percent of ballots had been returned. That is slightly higher than 60.81 percent in 2012, which was also a presidential election year.
Four years ago, Gambee said 21 percent of ballots came in on election day. In the May primary, 29 percent of ballots were delivered on election day.
If that trend is repeated, the county’s turnout rate will top 80 percent and could near 90 percent.
Election night results will be posted on The Dalles Chronicle website, thedalleschronicle.com, and Facebook page as they come in.
Results can also be found on the home page of Wasco County, online at www.co.wasco.or.us, by following the link to the secretary of state’s website.
Gambee said the first posting of local, state and federal results will be at 8 p.m.
She will do another posting at the end of the evening, and may do one in between depending on how many ballots were outstanding at 8 p.m.
