Letter to the editor: Trump path

Trump path

To the editor:

He connected directly to the fears and frustrations of a country that had been shattered by terrorism. He ignored the rules of modern politics. He spoke to Americans in plain, everyday language.

Frantic for change, a billionaire real estate magnate was voted America’s new president in a campaign that shattered the conventions of politics. America now faces four years under Trump, with a Republican House and Senate, and at least one Supreme Court vacancy to fill.

“I’m reaching out to you for your guidance and your help,” said President-elect Trump during his acceptance speech. It was a genuine message of purpose and humility. The disparagement and bitter backlash of the campaign is over.

Trump must now find a way to gain broad political acceptance and be the president for ALL Americans.
