Hope Run set for 9 a.m. Saturday
The 26th annual Hope 3k and 5k run is on tap for 9 a.m. this Saturday at Kiwanis Pocket Park in The Dalles.
Entry fees open at $12 for each adult and $7 for students.
Fees are waived for pledges of $40 or more.
Prizes, music and refreshments are available for all in attendance.

ACTS offers flag football games
The ACTS sports program is inviting boys and girls to play flag football every Saturday until Nov. 7 at TD Middle School.
From 9-11 a.m., athletes from the third-through-fifth graders will hit the gridiron, and the sixth-through-ninth graders play from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Participants need to bring $2 each week.
No one will be turned away if they cannot afford the cost.

Coming off a thrilling five-set victory Tuesday against Sherman, the South Wasco County Redsides recorded their ninth non-tournament sweep of the season by scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-17 over sixth-place Condon-Wheeler in a Big Sky Conference volleyball match played Thursday in Maupin.
“We played really well and came out swinging hard,” said SWC coach Donna Barton. “We were very consistent with our attacks and we spread the offense around. The girls felt good about the win.”
The Redsides went 63 of 69 from the service line with 12 aces and had eight players drop kills on 47 of 61 swings, for 29 in all, led by six from Jada Myers.
Allie Noland totaled six aces and five kills, Madisen Davis and Kyrsten Sprouse tacked on four kills each and Jacqueline Noland chipped in two kills and two aces.
The No. 14-ranked Redsides (15-3 overall, 9-2 league) host Dayville-Monument in a non-league match at 5 p.m. tonight.
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, they head to Hood River to take on Horizon Christian at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
