The Civic Auditorium Historic Preservation Committee has hired Elizabeth Wallis as the new program manager for the Civic.
Wallis replaces Trish Neal who served in that position for about a year, at the time Neal and Sherry Munro, the board secretary, took over management of the Civic.
Both Neal and Munro implemented opening the office three days a week for four hours each day. Both women worked at getting things organized in the office and going through files. That change has been reported as “very successful” by Civic officials.
Wallis started Oct. 1 and has been in training the past two weeks.
She has a strong background in event management as well as running her own business.
She has lived in The Dalles for several years and has a family connection to Rufus.
Wallis assisted in the planning of the Civic’s BeerFest in June.
She will be coordinating the upcoming Bridal Fair in February 2017.
Neal is leaving The Dalles after four years and moving back to Alaska.
Munro will continue to volunteer at the Civic through at least the first of the year when she plans to step back on the number of hours spent in the office.
Board members Lisa Commander and Beverly Erickson have been assisting Munro in the upstairs office.
Commander is the membership chairperson and Erickson has been helping with various projects in the office.
