Dec 19, 3:05 a.m.--Crew responded to the 2000 block of Sevenmile High Road on reports of a car fire. Upon arrival, crew found the vehicle engulfed in flames and the owner attempting to fight the fire with a garden hose. Owner says he started the car to warm it up then went back into his residence to make tea when the fire started. The car was near no other vehicles or structures. The fire was effectively extinguished and there were no injuries.

Dec. 19, 10:39 a.m.—Crew responded to reports of an activated waterflow alarm in the 1300 block of West First street. No problem found upon arrival.

Personnel also responded to two calls for emergency medical services and one invalid assist on Tuesday.

Police Reports

The Dalles City

A caller reported a man weaving in and out of traffic Tuesday morning in the 600 block of West Second. Police stopped a man who was drinking beer. The beer was poured out and the man was warned about staying off the roadway.

A caller reported an intoxicated man pushing a bike up Trevitt fell and hit his head. He was very wobbly and was crawling at one point. He refused medics and made it to his home.

A caller in the 1000 block of East 11th Street reported Tuesday morning finding graffiti on his garage and the neighbor’s were tagged also, as was a stop sign.

Duane Carolyle Rosey, 52, The Dalles, was arrested in the 2800 block of West Eighth Street and is accused of unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

A caller in the 900 block of West Sixth Street reported Tuesday afternoon seeing a man ride by on a bicycle, banging a machete on the handle bars. Police contacted the man, who said he was trying to make the clouds go away. He was advised to leave the machete holstered at all times. He said he would.

A caller in the 1200 block of West Sixth Street reported Tuesday afternoon a car hit a man and threw him by impact, and the driver was trying to leave. Report taken.

A caller in the 400 block of East 12th Street reported Tuesday afternoon that a man in her apartment was drunk and refusing to leave. The man did leave and police saw him as he was walking away and told him he was no longer welcome at the residence and he’d be arrested if he came back. He said he understood.

The man came back later and the caller said she wanted the man gone and for him not to come back unless he was sober.

Police gave the man a ride to the 500 block of Mt. Hood. There, later, a caller reported the same man was cussing and screaming and scaring customers. Police contacted the man who had left that business, and he and another man were asked to move along.

Later still, the man came back into the business, and the business wanted him officially trespassed. Police told him he would be arrested if he came back to that location. Wednesday morning, the same man was moved on by police after he was found sleeping under a trailer in the 400 block of West Second.

A caller reported Tuesday evening that a vehicle was exiting Interstate 84 onto the 1100 block of West Second Street and hit the right front corner of his van. Information exchanged. Vehicle towed.

An officer stopped a vehicle near The Dalles Middle School Tuesday evening after observing a wanted subject in the backseat. Michael Emerson Mayfield, 26, The Dalles, was arrested on four counts of probation violation.

A caller at East 12th and Oregon reported Tuesday evening seeing young adults pulling rifle cases out of a vehicle. An officer stopped the vehicle, and occupant agreed to search, but attempted to do it for officer. Officer found at least two rifle scopes, and in another car associated with the group, saw at least one rifle case in the back seat along with a drill. Information logged.

A caller in the 1500 block of East Ninth Street reported Tuesday evening going for a walk and coming home to find her Christmas lights shut off. She suspected her landlord, who pays part of her electric bill. She also said her deadbolt was locked when she came home. Police advised her to set up a camera to catch suspects.

A caller in the 600 block of East 14th Street reported Tuesday evening seeing someone walk by and check two mailboxes. Police were unable to locate any suspects.

An officer at West Third and Liberty heard a man screaming and howling late Tuesday. The man said he just left the bar and was having a good time. He was warned for disorderly conduct, and said he was going back to his motel to sleep.

A report was taken for a vehicle pursuit early Wednesday at East 10th and Oregon.

Wasco County

Deputy responded to a reported burglary in the 9300 block of Third Street Tuesday morning. Caller believes a television and several tools may have been stolen by her granddaughter’s friends and fears for her safety. Deputy was unable to make phone contact with the caller.

Welfare check performed on a man in the 8000 block of Wamic Marker Road. Woman asked police to check on her brother, who she says has major health issues and was not returning her calls. Deputy made contact with the man at the residence he shares with his daughter and her husband. No problem found.

A hit and run report was made Tuesday afternoon after a driver exited his vehicle and it rolled away, hitting a parked car. No injuries reported.
