TDHS FUNDRAISER: The 2019 graduating Senior Class from The Dalles High School is selling chocolate-covered cherries to cover the costs associated with their drug- and-alcohol free post-graduation party. Those who don’t have access to a TDHS senior are asked to contact local businesses, or The Dalles High School at 541-506-3400, to purchase cherries.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

FACILITATOR TRAINING: Nurturing Parenting Program Facilitator Training with Jennifer Moss, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in The Dalles. This three-day training focuses on incorporating the philosophy, skills and strategies of nurturing parenting. Participants will learn how to design home- and group-based parenting programs with a hands-on approach. Call 541-386-2500 ext. 3 or email 4relh@cgesd.k12.or.us to register or for more information.

Thursday, Dec. 6

KIWANIS PROGRAMS: Kiwanis meetings are held every Thursday at noon at Spooky’s. This week’s events include: Kiwanis hosts Col. Wright 4th Grade Singers. For more information go to www.thedalleskiwanis.org.

Friday, Dec. 7

FRIDAY PINOCHLE: Friday night Pinochle at the Mid-Columbia Senior Center, 1112 W 9th Street, The Dalles. Play begins at 6 p.m. New players and beginners welcome. Enter through the door on the 10th Street side. For more information contact the Center.

WORSHIP CHOIR: The Dalles Worship Choir, composed of approximately 45 members from nine different churches, presents its 15th annual Christmas concert series under the direction of Shawn Lutz. This year’s concert, “Wonderful Love,” is a compilation of gospel songs with narration, scripture, and testimony. Third of four concerts, 7 p.m., Gateway Presbyterian Church.

Saturday, Dec. 8

ANNUAL BAZAAR: Christmas Bazaar sponsored by Columbia Gorge Habitat for Humanity from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UCC Church, 5th and Court St., featuring a soup and pie luncheon, baked goods, local vendors.

SANTA DOWNTOWN: Pictures with Santa. Old Chronicle Building at 315 Federal Street, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations per picture appreciated.

HOLIDAY CONCERT: “Choose Something Like a Star” is the title for the Cascade Singers’ holiday concert. The line comes from a poem by Robert Frost set to music by Randall Thompson. It will be featured along with familiar Christmas favorites by the choir, ensemble, and children’s choir. Saturday’s concert begins at 7 p.m. and the Sunday concert at 3 p.m., both at Zion Lutheran Church, 10th and Union Streets, The Dalles. Admission is by donation at the door.

SATURDAY BINGO: Bingo at the Mid-Columbia Senior Center, 1112 W 9th Street, The Dalles. Doors open at 4 p.m. Bingo starts at 6 p.m. All ages welcome (children 12 to 18 years old must be accompanied by a legal guardian). New players encouraged to arrive by 5:30 p.m.

EAGLE BAZAAR: Eagles Holiday Bazaar 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. With 50 vendors to choose from, you should find something for that special someone. The kitchen will be serving biscuits and gravy for breakfast and burgers and dogs in the afternoon. Located at 2006 W. 7th St., The Dalles.

BLUES BAND: Big River Blues Band at The Dalles Eagles Lodge starting at 7 p.m. Come join the fun, be our guest and dance on the biggest dance floor in the gorge. Cover: $3 members, $4 guests. Located at 2006 W. 7th St., The Dalles.

Tuesday, Dec. 11

SIX APPEAL: Mid-Columbia Community Concert Association presents “Six Appeal,” a world-class a capella vocal ensemble that combines musical prowess with sharp comedic timing. The concert will cover multiple decades and genres of music, from classic oldies and current hits to catchy original tunes. 7 p.m., The Dalles High School.

LYLE LIONS: Senior Meals at noon. Lyle Lions Community Center. Corner of Hwy 14 and 5th St. Public is welcome.

MESSIAH SING-ALONG: This year’s Messiah sing-along will feature choruses from the Messiah as well as other Christmas carols, with plenty of audience participation. Some small groups and soloists will perform. Leading the choruses will be a core group: Two practices are planned, on Nov. 27 and Dec. 11, both at 7 pm. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1815 E. 15th ST. Performance is 7 p.m. at St. Peters Landmark Church in The Dalles.
