TD hosts Capitol Christmas Tree Wednesday

The Dalles is one of 26 communities hosting the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree as it travels the Oregon Trail to Washington D.C.

The tree will be hosted at The Dalles City Hall Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 9 to 10 a.m., at The Dalles City Hall, 313 Court St. Cookies, cocoa and candy canes will be available, with music by students from Columbia Lutheran School, a local jazz band, a welcome from Mayor Stephen Lawrence and an appearance by Santa Claus.

Every year, a different National Forest is selected to provide a tree to appear on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol for the Christmas season. The Willamette National Forest in partnership with nonprofit Choose Outdoors and Travel Oregon will transport the tree to the capitol.
