Goldendale's Richard Flynn wants to build a time machine. He wants to go back to Oct. 30, 1938 - 80 years ago this October when radio was the hot new thing and millions listened to it daily. And on the evening of that date, one radio broadcast terrorized much of the country.

WA men recall three weeks with Kennedy

YAKIMA — For probably most Americans, June 6 came and went quietly. Even for Alonzo Marquez of Yakima and Richard Hernandez of Moses Lake. Marquez, raised in Outlook, and Hernandez, who grew up in Mabton, were with Sen. Robert “Bobby” Kennedy just hours before he was assassinated on June 4, 1968.

From this day forward

The Sherman County Historical Museum has a new display this summer — “From This Day Forward: A Wedding Exhibit — and it’s one that continues to grow. “We invited the community to participate in this exhibit by bringing photos to be placed on the wedding bulletin board,” explained Executive Director Patti Fields.

The annual meeting of Original Wasco County Courthouse Preservation, Inc. is Saturday, June 2, at 1:30 p.m., at the original courthouse, the 1859 building at 410 W. 2nd Place, behind the Chamber of Commerce in The Dalles.
