Accidents

The Dalles City
     Aug. 28, 4;07 p.m.- two-vehicle, non-injury accident near West Sixth Street 76 station. One unit operated by Jorge Diaz Lopez, The other driver left his insurance policy number but no other information and then left the area, A deputy attempted to make contact with him. Accident report not available.
     Aug. 27, 9:09 p.m.- took report for hit and run accident in 1500 block of West Sixth Street. Parked vehicle hit and damaged.

Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue

     Aug. 28, 7:12 p.m.- responded to report of vehicle hit by lightening at Milepost 97 on I-84. Car then reportedly hit guardrail. Unable to locate any such vehicle.
     Aug. 28, 7:34 p.m.- smoke investigation in 5600 block of Cherry Heights. Smoke in area was likely from fire at Lyle.
     Aug. 29, 9:52 a.m.- panel alarm at 1015 Webber Street. Got reports of smoke coming from one room. That wing of facility evacuated. Smoke was from dust on heating unit that went on. No fire.
     In additional to fire runs, crews from MCF&R made seven ambulance runs on Friday, nine on Saturday and four on Sunday.

Police Reports

The Dalles City
     A 38-year-old male from The Dalles was arrested in the 800 block of Hostetler Way on Saturday and is accused of third-degree theft and second-degree criminal mischief. He is accused of stealing a shirt from an individual in the 1100 block of Emerson Street. The charges are misdemeanors.
     City police took a report for third-degree criminal mischief in the 1700 block of East 10th Street on Saturday. An 18-year-old male was cited and released.
A guest at a local motel reported Saturday that her purse had been stolen from her vehicle while it was in the parking lot. The purse contained her wallet, a cell phone and some cash. Police took a report for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
     City police made traffic stop in 400 block of East Second Street Friday and cited the male driver throwing burning material on the roadway.
     City police took a report for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle in the 2000 block of Bridge Street on Friday. The break-in occurred on Aug. 22. A GPS device was stolen.
     A resident in the 900 block of Home Court reported Saturday that someone had sprayed his truck with a white powder. Police took a report for third-degree criminal mischief.
     City police took a report for criminal mischief in the 600 block of West 16th Street Friday afternoon. A rock was thrown through a window in a shed.
     Edgar Contreras Garcia, 23, 313 ½ E. Fifth St., was arrested at his residence on Friday and is accused of probation violation. The original charges was possession of methamphetamine.
     City police took a report for harassment in the 400 block of West Second Street Friday after responding to a report of two females fighting. Officer made contact with both of them. A copy of the report is being sent to the city attorney for review.
     Jocael Palomino, 23, 2223 E. 12th St., was arrested at East 12th and Dry Hollow Road on Friday afternoon on a warrant from Malheur County for probation violation.
     A resident in the 500 block of East 10th Street reported the theft of a lap top computer from his vehicle on Friday. Police took a report for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
     Antonio Cardenas Sanchez, 38, 417 W. 10th St., was arrested at East 11th and Washington streets after a traffic stop on Friday night. He is accused of unlawful possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and unlawful delivery of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school. He is also being held for a probation violation and is being held as a fugitive for ICE.
     City police made traffic stop at East Third and Federal streets Friday and cited the male driver for no insurance. The vehicle was impounded.
     City police took a report for second-degree theft in the emergency room at Mid-Columbia Medical Center on Saturday morning. It took place earlier in the evening.
     City police took a report for a found bicycle at the library at 722 Court St. on Sunday. The purple and green bike was found left on the stairs. It was impounded at the police station.
     City police took a report for first-degree burglary in the 1600 block of Nevada Street. The female victim and two men entered her house and assaulted her. They left when she screamed for neighbors to call 9-1-1,. She was taken to hospital by ambulance. The suspects were not found.

Wasco County Sheriff
     The sheriff’s search and rescue team was alerted Saturday afternoon that a 62-year-old woman who had gone hiking from the Frog Lake area had not returned as scheduled. She was found by USFS personnel at a nearby snow park and the SAR team was told to stand down.
     A female contacted in the 1200 block of Eric Court by deputies was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol. She told police she was assaulted by two males. She was taken to the hospital but both and home and at the hospital refused to identity the suspects.
     The sheriff’s office received a report of shots being fire in the area of the Clear Lake Campground on Saturday. A USFS employee made contact with a number of individuals and issued federal citations. No report from sheriff’s office.
     Lawrence Jay Quain, 54, 3207 W. Seventh St., was arrested at his residence on Friday on a Douglas County warrant for failure to appear in court on a charge of driving while under the influence of intoxicants.
     A resident in the 1000 block of Irvine Street reported Friday that someone broke into a vehicle there the previous night. While at the second, a deputy got a report that second vehicle had also been broken into.

Oregon State Police
     Dennis Jones, 46, Vancouver, was arrested at West Second and Cherry Heights on Saturday evening and is accused of driving while under the influence of intoxicants.
     State police game officers issued fishing violation citations to several individuals on the weekend. A 54-year-old male from White Swan, Wash. was cited for fishing in a prohibited area. He was found fishing off a scaffold within 600 feet of the spillway of John Day Dam. The report said he had been warned about the placement of the scaffold earlier. Two men from Celilo Village were cited near the mouth of the Deschutes and area accused of fishing in a closed area and having no tribal ID on their person. A man from Beaverton was cited in the Lower Deschutes for six counts of taking steelhead in a prohibited area and two counts of borrowing another harvest card. The six steelhead, the harvest card and his fishing rod were all seized.

Sherman County
     Gustavo Ibanez, 33, Quincy, Wash., was arrested at Milepost 22 on Highway 98 on Saturday and is accused of failure to carry or present a license. He is being held as an ICE fugitive.
     Jeremy Trent Lewis, 36, Oakley, Idaho, was arrested at a service station in Biggs Junction on Sunday and is accused of failure to carry or present a license and possession of heroin. At the same time, Carrie Ann Peterson, 42, also of Oakley, was arrested and is accused of possession of cocaine.

Gilliam County Sheriff
     David Allen Sullivan, 49, Grants Pass, was arrested at Milepost 136 on I-84 and is accused of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, reckless driving and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon.
     Michael Allen Turcotte, 39, no address, was arrested in Arlington on Saturday and is accused of second-degree criminal trespass and third-degree theft.
Donald Patrick James Haney , 18, 475 Shane Drive, No. 22, was arrested in Arlington on Friday and is accused of seven counts of first-degree rape, seven counts of second-degree sex abuse and seven counts of third-degree sex abuse.


Regional Jail
     Charles Owen Finnegan, 40, Beavercreek, was processed at the regional jail Friday on a court commitment order and is serving a sentence of 14 days in jail for recklessly endangering another person.
     Michael James Hughey, 29, was processed at the regional jail on Friday and is accused of probation violation. The original charge is being a felon in possession of a weapon. It is a Gilliam County charge.
     John Anthony Caverly, 41, 712 W. 11th St., was processed at the regional jail and is accused of second-degree theft and second-degree child neglect. He was also being held for probation violation.
     Darin Jack DeMaris, 40, 2017 W. Ninth St., as processed at the regional jail Sunday and is accused of parole violation.
