The Gorge Hoops Basketball is offering a one-day signup for its youth recreational league from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at Wahtonka. If players are not signed by Oct. 18, they will be unable to participate in the league games, but if a player cannot make it, someone can attend in their place.
Harriers add more personal records to their ‘17 totals
Through the 2017 campaign, The Dalles Riverhawks have shown that they can perform at its highest level when the stakes are raised. The boys won their event and the girls placed second, as the team netted 21 personal records at Wednesday’s five-team dual at Tualatin High School.
Three years ago, The Dalles boys’ soccer team won two games. Last year, they won four. Alex Gutierrez had a goal and an assist, Juan Heredia added two more assists in The Dalles’ 4-1 playoff-clinching win, the fifth of the season, Tuesday over Pendleton.
Weir, Wilcox score goals; Pitt makes clutch saves in clincher
The Dalles girls’ soccer team started the season with five consecutive losses and were outscored 29-0 over that span. After Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Pendleton, the Lady Riverhawks punched their postseason ticket.

Setting up for tonight’s make-or-break game at Pendleton, The Dalles boys’ soccer team has been outscored. TD trailed 3-1 at the half, but 6A Tualatin scored four straight goals in a 7-1 victory Saturday in a non-league match played at Wahtonka.
In a re-scheduled volleyball match played last Friday afternoon, the No. 24-ranked Dalles Riverhawks lost the first two sets in what was a four-set loss to Rex-Putnam, by margins of 20-25, 13-25, 25-19, 17-25, at Kurtz Gym.
Sherman head coach Amy Huffman had a chance to play several of her players in multiple positions. Those switches turned out to be positive, as the Lady Huskies came through for a sweep by scores of 25-8, 25-19, 25-14 Monday in a non-league match at Lyle.

MAUPIN – The South Wasco County Redsides wrapped up its 2017 regular season schedule with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-13 three-set sweep over Monument-Dayville in a non-league volleyball match played Saturday in Maupin.
Elementary school sets top mark of 138 to defeat Dry Hollow
On a day when record numbers were achieved, Colonel Wright School reclaimed local bragging rights with the most students in attendance at the 20th annual Jumpstart Elementary Cross Country Meet held on Sept. 26 at Sorosis Park in The Dalles.

Farrell, Pence and Kilby score twice in 58-14 win
In back-to-back weeks, the No. 1-ranked Dufur Rangers were going to see where they stood in the 1A landscape. Friday, Asa Farrell, Hagen Pence and Abraham Kilby scored two times apiece to help lead the Rangers to a 58-14 win on the road against No. 13 Arlington-Condon on senior night Thursday in Arlington.
The Dalles Riverhawk defense did all it could, but the offense could not achieve much success through the air or on the ground in Friday’s 14-6 varsity football loss to Woodburn.
