Right before state, the 10U Cherry City Crush is hitting their peak. Last weekend, at the 14-team Donald Duck Invitational in Newberg, the Crush outscored their opponents by a 69-34 margin on their way to a perfect 5-0 record to claim a tournament championship.

Wilson dazzles to lead squad to Majors crown

Papa Murphy’s Pizza pitcher Kade Wilson dealt with nagging injuries all spring. Late Friday night, he battled a high fever, but recovered just enough to take the mound in a Majors championship game against Riley Brock, Mason Caldwell, Braden Schwartz and a hard-hitting Nelson Tires squad.

Hank’s Auto comes back for Minors title

In a back-and-forth battle of auto companies, it was Fix Auto that struck early and often, but Hank’s Auto had the last response. Down by a 9-8 margin in the top of the sixth inning, Hank’s Auto scored five runs to take the lead, and reliever Derek Goulart wiggled out of a bases-loaded jam with a strikeout to give his team a 13-9 comeback victory Saturday in The Dalles Little League Minors championship action at Kramer Field.

The 2017 Cherry City Crush 10U softball team opened its season this past weekend with a tournament in Newberg and went 0-4 in the combined ‘B/C’ level bracket, but coach Bob Delaney sees a limitless potential on the roster of 12 young players.

Hull moves to Hoop Shoot finals

With the pressure rising, Maupin native Jason Hull stayed calm, cool and collected. Hull sank 22 of 25 free throws to defeat Armani Smith, Chatz Dollente and Christian Cordona at the Elk’s Northwest Regional finals held on March 11 at Clark College in Vancouver, Wash.
