Dorothy M. Young, 84, a resident of The Dalles, Ore., died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012.
She was born Aug. 10, 1928, in Klickitat, Wash., the third of seven children to Dan and Hilda M. (Engstrom) Bales. She grew up in Klickitat, where she attended school.
She married Neil Conner in November 1947. They resided in Hood River until the early 1950s. They moved to The Dalles with their children and remained there until Neil’s passing in July 1963.
She married John P. Huteson Aug 1, 1975, in Goldendale, Wash. They loved to travel and they spent a few years in Alaska before returning to The Dalles. He died in December 1992.
She returned to work fulltime at MCMC for a few more years before retiring completely. After retirement she devoted her time to bingo, TOPS, swimming, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
She married Gilbert Young in the summer of 2000 and they moved to Dallesport, Wash., until his death in the summer of 2007. She moved back to The Dalles to be near her family.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Linda and Paul Lepinski, Paula Conner, Dan Conner, Carol and Art Braun, Larry Conner, Ralph Conner, John and Rosinda Huteson, Tom Huteson, Annie Huteson and Wayland and Linda Huteson; brothers, John Bales and David Bales; sister, Nancy Nelson and husband Doug; grandchildren, Sherri and Ihab Issa, Jon Conner, Scott and Tanya Conner, Jeff Conner, Susan and Dustin Watkins, Jim Routh, Karren Middleton, Melissa Zenner, Jada Conner, Lisa Armstrong, Rene and JR Harth and Ryan Waid; nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Friday, Oct. 5, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. at IOOF Threemile Cemetery.
