Janis Ann Arthur, 66, died peacefully April 22, 2013, at the Regency Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gresham, Ore.
She was born April 19, 1947, in Portland, Ore., to Alvin and Wanda (Proctor) Eri. She attended school in Sandy, Ore., where she graduated from Sandy High School.
She moved to Hood River in 1977, and in 1978, she married William “Bill” Arthur in Stevenson, Wash. They made their home in Parkdale from 1978 to 1995, when they moved to their current residence in Hood River.
While in Parkdale she kept a big garden with both flowers and vegetables. When they moved to Hood River her garden was more decorative and she still loved to be outside.
Janis and Bill enjoyed traveling and would drive to Missouri to visit family.
She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Arthur, Hood River, Ore.; her son Donald Richardson, Estacada, Ore.; step-sons, Bart Arthur, Skamania, Wash.; and Steven Arthur, Hood River; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Carla Dickey, Shelton, Wash.; and her mother Wanda Hanna, Shelton, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her father Alvin Eri in 1967, step-father, James Hanna in 2002, step-son, Charles Arthur in 2011 and sisters Vana Butler in 1995 and Sandra Latham in 2003.
A memorial service will be at the Rowena Baptist Church at a later date and her remains will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery of Gresham, Oregon.
Memorials are encouraged to be made in Janis’ name to the American Diabetes Association since she had been diabetic since she was 19.
