Donna Lee Keller

The Dalles, Ore.

June 2, 1948 - December 4, 2013

Charlotte Sweeney-Blaisdell and Clyde Blaisdell welcomed Donna Lee Blaisdell, daughter, June 2, 1948. She was the second oldest daughter of four girls. She went home to the Lord, Wednesday, December 4, 2013.
She attended Carson Elementary and graduated from Stevenson High School with Honors. She graduated from Washington State University with esteemed Honors and an Elementary Teaching Degree. Donna worked at Federal Crop Insurance, Cherry Growers, and in Fairbanks, Alaska during her college summers.
Donna married H. Theron Keller, of The Dalles, on June 25, 1971. They continued to reside in The Dalles and this last June celebrated their 42nd anniversary.
She believed in giving back to the community and was active in many community affairs. She was a member and Deacon of Gateway Presbyterian Church, Community Bible Study, Mid-Columbia Car Club, Swap & Swing Square Dance Club, and volunteered enthusiastically in the “Last Days of Jesus.”
Donna taught as a Student Teacher at Leiser School, Vancouver, and 31 more years at Chenowith Elementary School until retirement. Her love for the children and dedication as a teacher drew her back to teaching at The Dalles Head Start. Upon Theron’s retirement she retired a second time, but still volunteered to help children get a good start in school by helping with the reading studies at Chenowith Elementary. She and Theron loved traveling, old cars, and spending time with friends and family. Donna was a gifted artist, painting many beautiful pieces of art.
Donna would share this with us all: “I love you all dearly, now don’t shed a tear, I’m spending my Christmas with Jesus this year.”
Survived by her husband, Theron Keller, and his family; her mother, Charlotte Blaisdell; sisters, Judy (Bob) Cole, Sherry (Rod) Runyon, Janice (John) Jackson; nephews, Jayson (Jill) Cole, Tharron (Linda) Cole, Duanne (Elsa) Cole, JR (Heather) Runyon, Luke (Gin) Jackson; nieces, Kelley (Aaron) Lee, Chrissy (Andrew) Stopyra and extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Blaisdell.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Gateway Presbyterian Church, The Dalles, Oregon on Tuesday, December 10th, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or donations of your choice.
