Melita was born in Portland, OR to Lorna (Raney) and Mel Hibberd. She attended Gregory Heights and Alameda Grade Schools, Grant High School and Univ. of Oregon. She married Raymond D. Killian in April of 1953 and they had 3 children: Lee Ann Young (Bill), Portland OR, Jo Dee Morris (Chuck), Corbett, OR and David Killian (Kelley) of The Dalles, OR.
Ray was a railroader and traveled the N.W. with his family from Portland, Hermiston, La Grande, North Platte, NE and back to The Dalles, OR. Ray died in The Dalles in 1981 and Melita moved back to Portland where she worked at Addies You and I Travel Service for several years. She reconnected with Glen Willett from The Dalles and they married in 1989 and had 23 years together with their blended family. Glen passed away in The Dalles in 2012.
Her son David preceded her in death in April of 2013 and stepson Dean Willett in May of 2000. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Lee Ann and Jo Dee and 3 stepchildren; Patrice Boose, Portland, OR, Ken (Debbie) Willett, Portland, OR and Gene (Sandy) Willett, Mt. Vernon, WA. She also is survived by her sister, Marcia Hart, Cheesaw, WA and 2 nieces; 14 grandchildren: John (Jenae) Meyer, Erica (Chris) Speck, James (Megan) Morris; Justin (Samantha) Boose, Megan(Tony) Fox; Jessica and Becky Killian, Leanne (Kayci) Klaviter; Catherine, Claire, Chris, And Collin Willett; Michael (Sierra) Willett and Rachael (Rob) Woods; 14 greatchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
She enjoyed entertaining her family and friends and liked dancing, traveling with Glen in their motorhome, doing crosswords, gardening, playing Bridge, and even parasailed in Mexico once!
We are planning a Memorial Service for her in April around her birthday in Corbett, OR. She will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her.
