Ronald R. Hill, 68, a lifelong resident of The Dalles, Ore., died at home Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013.
He was born Feb. 19, 1944 in The Dalles, Ore., to Gilbert and Willa (Sheirbon) Hill. He was raised and educated in The Dalles, graduating from The Dalles High School in 1962. On May 15, 1965 he and Patricia Beatty were married in The Dalles.
He worked in freight delivery for many years and the past eight years worked for Pacer Propane. He was a member of The Dalles Elks Lodge, where he held various offices, and the Four Wheel Drive Club. He enjoyed hiking the gorge and his dogs.
He is survived by his wife Pat, The Dalles; son Jim Hill and his wife Joyce, The Dalles; daughter Heather Tarnasky and her husband A.J., Walla Walla, Wash.; brother Larry Hill and his wife Diane, Brush Prairie, Wash.; sister Kay Havig and her husband Richard, The Dalles, Ore.; grandchildren Jakob Chabot, Jerek and Josie Hill and Grace and Jack Tarnasky. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Memorial services will be Monday, Feb. 4, at 1 p.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Washington Autism Spectrum Disorder Association, 1644 Plaza Way #116, Walla Walla, WA 99362
