Dora May Jolly, a former resident of The Dalles, Ore., died Feb. 15, 2013.
She was born May 25, 1923, on a farm in Ramsey County, N.D., to Roy and Marie Edwardson Davidson. When she was 19, her family moved to Bremerton, Wash., to work in the naval shipyards. It was there that she met Army GI Charles Jolly, whom she married in 1943.
After the war they raised a family of four children. When the children were older, Dora returned to college and later graduated from the University of Oregon.
The family moved many times, living in the Oregon towns of Umatilla, Hermiston, Eugene, Cottage Grove, Milwaukie, Portland, and The Dalles.
She taught middle school math and helped operate family businesses including a roller skating rink in Cottage Grove and a gas station, used book store and tax service in The Dalles.
She is survived by daughters Denise Wozniak, Newberg, Gwen Cowan, Portland, and son Charles, Newberg. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, daughter RoseMary, four brothers, four sisters, and grandson, Joseph.
A memorial service is set for 1 p.m., Saturday, March 9, at the family residence at 1829 NE Waterfront, Newberg, Ore.
