Dorothy Lois Gray, 90, formerly of The Dalles, Ore., died Jan. 21, 2013, in Richland, Wash., while living at Guardian Angels Home.
She was born Dorothy Lois Rumbolz on Feb. 25, 1922, to Henry David Rumbolz and Lydia Emma (Sandman) Rumbolz. Her birthplace was Ethan, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm in Ethan with three sisters and one brother. She attended Mutziger Grade School and graduated from Ethan High School. She then went on to graduate from Mitchell Business College in 1940.
In 1944, she married Elden “Bud” Robert Gray in The Dalles, where they met. He preceded her in death in 2010. Out of this union two children were born, David Alan Gray and Deborah Jo Gray.
She was a member of The Dalles Seventh-Day Adventist Church. As a result of her love of music she was the song leader for many years.
She worked for many years at The Dalles Motor Vehicle Office, becoming manager for her last 20-plus years of employment.
She was very family oriented and had a passion for growing flowers. She enjoyed traveling and found out that she also liked fishing and camping.
She is survived by two children and their spouses, a brother and sister, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2:30 p.m., at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Del Griedel officiating.
