John Andrew Emilio, 71, a resident of The Dalles, Ore., died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at a Portland hospital.
He was born Aug. 15, 1941 in Ossining, New York, to Francis and Janina (Korab) Emilio. He was raised and educated in New York and California, graduating from high school in San Bernardino, Calif.
Following high school, he began his 20-year career in the US Army, retiring in 1983 at sergeant first class. He then spent ten years managing The Hobby Shack in San Diego, Calif.
He was an avid radio controlled airplane builder and flyer. He was also a jack of all trades.
He is survived by his wife Anne, sons Lyle and Ted Eubanks, a sister, mother-in-law Ruth Rooper, grandson Zeke, and granddaughters Emily and Kali.
Services with military honors will be Monday, July 15, at 11 a.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home.
