William Calvin Flansberg, a resident of Lyle, Washington and longtime resident of Waldport, Oregon died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in The Dalles, Oregon. He was 82.
He was born August 6, 1930 in Pueblo, Colorado to John and Gertrude (Meek) Flansberg. He was raised and educated in Pueblo, Colorado and Willamina, Oregon graduating from Willamina High School. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army. He spent most of his life in the timber industry as owner/operator of a saw mill and logging company and also in scrap metal recycling. William enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and collecting rocks and marbles.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Flansberg, Tualatin, Ore. and June Burnham of Portland,; brothers Jack Flansberg of Waldport, Ore. and Melvin Flansberg of Albany, Ore.; a sister, Ellen Chase of Salem, Ore.; grandchildren John Flansberg, Calvin Burnham and William Schroeder; great grandchildren John Flansberg Jr, Josh and Julia. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Monday, June 10, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery.
