Mabel Buck Angel, 90, a resident of Maupin, Ore., died peacefully Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the home of her son in Albany, Ore.
She was born May 31, 1922, in Alf, Ark., to John Jess Buck and Mary Myrtle (Wehunt) Buck. She grew up with her brother Jess Wallace Buck and graduated high school in Waldron, Ark.
She married Delbert J. Angel on Feb. 15, 1941, in Mena Ark. They lived in Forester, Ark., until moving to La Pine, Ore., in 1945. In 1955 they moved to Maupin, Ore., where Delbert worked as a logger.
She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed working in and sharing the bounty of her gardens, which she and Delbert built, with neighbors and her children. Her ultimate pride was her five grandchildren and her nine great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her brother, Jess Wallace Buck, Mena; her daughter, Sandy and her husband Hugh, Salem, Ore.; and their children, Mike, Craig and Kara; son, Jim Angel and his wife Rochelle, Portland, Ore.; and son, Mike and his wife Rexine, Albany, and their children, Chad and Chris. She is also survived by her nine great-grandchildren, Moreen, Brett, Will, Claire, Karsen, Maddie, Cole, Creo, and Cruz.
She will be laid to rest at the Pilot Butte Cemetery in Bend, Ore. She requested that no public services be held. Private services are to be held at a later date.
