Shirley Anne (Brittain) Delco, 84, died May 6, 2013, in The Dalles, Ore.
She was born Sept. 7, 1928, in The Dalles to Guy Coleman Brittain and Alma Elizabeth (Driver) Brittain. She was raised in the Wamic area her whole life, spending many years on her family’s dairy. She married Harold Delco on Sept. 24, 1947, in Goldendale, Wash., and they made their home in Wamic.
They purchased the Valley General Store in Tygh Valley and moved there in 1972. She drove school bus for the Tygh Valley School District for many years. They purchased Harold’s father Ralph Delco’s farm on Shady Brook Road in Tygh Valley in 1973. After selling the store, they bought the Miss Piggies Café in Tygh Valley and changed the name to Molly B’s after her grandmother Molly Brittain.
She was preceded in death by Harold on Aug. 10, 2006, and is survived by their four children. Son Gus and wife Delayne Delco and grandson Russ Delco, Wamic; son Ron and wife Adra Delco, Wamic; and grandsons Wade Delco, Oregon City; Ryan Delco, Wamic; step-grandchildren Bobbi and David Durfey; son Randy and wife Penni Delco, Wamic; and grandson’s Grant Delco, Wamic; and Gary Delco, Sandy, Ore.; daughter Mary Anne and husband Glenn Crawford and granddaughter Alyssa Ashley, Wasco; grandson Brandon Ashley, Tygh Valley; 15 great-grandchildren; her brother Lyle Brittain, Tygh Valley; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was also preceded in death by her parents Guy and Alma Brittain, Wamic; brother Jack Brittain, Tygh Valley; and sister Norma Miller, Wamic.
Services will be held May 18, 2013, at the Tygh Valley Cemetery, at 2 p.m. and a celebration of life potluck luncheon will follow at the Wamic Grange. The family will provide the main dish, drinks and dessert.
Donations may be made in Shirley’s name to the Wasco County Ambulance – Maupin, Ore.
