Linda Horton, 74, died in Portland, Oregon on October 31, 2013. She was the daughter of Linden and Mary Louise Obar, and sister of Judy Bayley. She graduated from The Dalles High School, and on February 16, 1958 she married Donald Horton.
Linda worked for many years in the circulation room of The Dalles Chronicle. She was a faithful and loyal employee who always came to work with a smile.
She lived in The Dalles for 52 years, moving to Kodiak, Alaska and living there for 16 years before moving to Portland, Oregon six years ago.
Linda enjoyed camping, knitting, and was a fisherman’s assistant for 49 years. She volunteered for the Girl Scouts, was a Boy Scout leader, part of the Columbia Fibres Guild, helping with Wasco County and Kodiak Animal Shelter Rescues. She attended the Church of Natures Cathedral.
Linda raised three children of her own, one niece, two nephews part time, and a dozen children on the side.
She is survived by Robert and Philippa Horton, Darold Horton, Dawnolou Horton-Obarr Hehr, grand children, Christopher Horton, Rhys Horton, and Aaron Horton. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Horton.
A celebration of life will be held at Zion Luthern Church on November 30th from 2-5 p.m.
