Margaret “Maggie” Bemis, a resident of The Dalles, Oregon died on April 6, 2014. She was born to parents, James and Margaret Bemis on May 16, 1956 at the US Air Force Hospital, Northwood, England.
She attended school in Southern California and graduated from Valencia High School in 1973. Her love of animals became apparent from a very young age. In High School she was part of Future Farmers of America (FFA) and raised sheep, horses, goats and at one time had over 200 show guinea pigs in the garage. Maggie won many trophies and awards for her accomplishments.
She began dog bathing during high school and was a top notch dog groomer for 40 years. She loved all types of animals and wanted to be a veterinarian and worked for a veterinary clinic for 6 years, yet she found her niche as a dog groomer.
Maggie loved all things in nature and worked in the orchards picking fruit, irrigating and doing many tasks for over 10 years. Often Maggie would rescue animals and place them in good homes. Maggie owned a pet shop in town called Mary's Canary's, then began a grooming shop called Sheer Elegance. Family was very important to Maggie, and she loved her children and grandchildren. Maggie was very often found in Tye-dyed shirts, and was a very giving woman. Another great quality she had was listening to others and not being judgmental.
Maggie is survived by her Sister Laura Bemis, children, Michael Bosse, Debbie Simonis and spouse Ron, Amber Tyler and spouse Carl, Kathryn Coulter, John Dethman, Sky Pullen, Noah Lafrenz and spouse Jaimie, Stephanie Dousay and spouse Jon; grandchildren, Justice, Sam, Summer, Skyler, Kristen, Amara, Braxson, James, Jenika, Justeen, Ariana, Ronnie Jr.
