Richard Allen Fortune’s five year battle with cancer ended April 9th 2014, passing peacefully in his home surrounded by his children, wife and several grandchildren. He was 64 years old.
Richard was a fun loving person, full of smiles, jokes and a huge heart. Richard looks down on his wife Vanessa (Goodnight) Fortune, and his children Sharon Fortune Ng and her husband Chuen and son Rylo, Anthony Fortune and his wife Katherine and their son Cayden, Kevin Fortune his fiancé Pamela Briles, daughter Krysta and son Hunter, Kelton Fortune and his wife Chelsie and their daughters Allison Sanderson, Avie Sanderson and June Fortune and Richard’s youngest son Jeremy Fortune. Richard is also survived by his brothers Robert Fortune of Grandview, Washington and Darrel Fortune of Prosser, Washington, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and his father in law, John Alley. He was preceded in death by his mother Aletta Bigelow Fortune, and father, Eldred Leroy Fortune, and mother-in-law, Phyllis (Hunter) Alley.
Richard loved the outdoors, Native American history and artifacts, reading, hiking, camping, fishing and spending time with loved ones. He will be remembered for his potato salad. His favorite thing in life was spoiling his grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on April 19th, 2014 at 11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in The Dalles, Oregon. The church is located at 1815 East 15th Street.
