I just discovered Aunt Helen's obituary while doing some work on my account. Thought I would send belated condolences from your Kansas family members. This is Jolene Grabill, Ervin's (Helen's oldest brother) grandaughter and Helen's great niece. Darell, I remember meeting you at some point in our childhood so perhaps I met you then too, Jim. My mother, Ruth Jeanette (Steiner) Grabill literally lay dying of Alzheimer's disease when your mom passed away. She died on September 8, 2014, less than a month after your mom. She had spent the last two and a half years at a small facility for people with Alzheimer's near me in Topeka. Mother always though highly of Aunt Helen and had kept in touch with her until just the last handful of years when Mother's dementia made such details too challenging to manage. Even though they were a generation apart, it is comforting to think these two Steiner girls might have been able to find their way around heaven together. I will share this news with my Aunt Bev (Beverly Steiner Olson) who is Ervin's only other child. Aunt Bev is 85 and lives in Presbyterian Manor in Salina, Kansas. When I last asked her, Aunt Bev had lost tract of Aunt Helen.
