Charles E. Jolly passed away on September 29th, 2014, in Newberg, Ore.
Born April 3, 1952 in Walla Walla, Wa. to parents Charles and Dora Jolly, he attended high school in Portland, Ore. and later went on to enlist in the US Marines.
Charles later lived in The Dalles, where his family owned a gas station, book store and tax service on Kelly Street. He co-managed the book store and helped his dad operate the service station.
He also went on to travel and work construction jobs in several states. In his later years and in failing health, he resided on his sister’s small farm in Newberg, Ore.
Charles was a member of the Eagles Lodge, and his joys in life included his faithful dog, Trixie, as well as helping those in need. He also greatly enjoyed raising pheasants with the help of his good friend Johnny Porzio.
Survivors include his sisters, Denise Wozniak of Newberg, Ore. and Gwen Cowan of Portland, Ore. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Jolly; his mother, Dora Jolly; and his sister, Rose Mary Jolly.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 1829 NE Waterfront St. in Newberg, Ore. on December 13 at 2 p.m.
