Florence Margery Groce, 91, a long time resident of The Dalles and Parkdale, Oregon passed away February 15, 2014 at Mid-Columbia Medical Center due to age-related illnesses.
She was born November 23, 1922 in Alameda County, California to William Thomas Chrisman and Anita A. Durta Chrisman. She was the oldest of 4 children.
She is survived by step-son Francis Roy Groce (Cora Lee) of Maupin, OR and step-daughter Lois J. Cant (Don) of Middleton, ID and step-daughter in law, Ann Groce of Garrison, TX, five step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. Also survived by special nephew and niece, Forrest and Ruby Kelley.
She was preceeded in death by first husband, Lawrence Holsman of Parkdale in 1986 and by second husband, Lewis L. Groce of The Dalles in 2001. Also, step-son Robert L. Groce in 2014 and step-grandaughter, Deborah Kaye Groce in 2011.
She worked many years in the fruit industry in the Hood River Valley and was very active in the Parkdale Grange for many years and then the Cherry Park Grange in The Dalles. She loved being active with husband Lewis and his horses and wagons and loved old time and country music. She also loved all her many friends and made new friends everywhere she went. All who knew her loved her. She particularly loved her many dolls and all animals and children.
Special memorial services will be held at the Cherry Park Grange Hall at 1002 Lambert St and old N. Dufur Rd in The Dalles, OR on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with snacks and live music to follow.
