Russell Forrest Wilcox, 86, a resident of The Dalles, Oregon died at home Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
Russell was born March 23, 1927 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Gurney and Helen (Varney) Wilcox and was raised and educated there. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his discharge from the Navy he attended the University of Idaho in Pocatello. On March 14, 1947 he and Mary Louise Jones were married. He attended a vocational technical school in Chicago, Illinois and then worked as an electrician until his retirement. Russell enjoyed traveling to visit family, repairing and refinishing furniture.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Russell is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Mary Louise Wilcox; five children, Barbara L Cole and her husband Randy of The Dalles, Oregon; Rosemary H Taylor and her husband Kent of Frisco, Texas; Russell David Wilcox and his wife Janeal of The Dalles, Oregon; Roger L Wilcox and his wife Cheryl of Riverton, Utah and Donna Denise (DD) Arnett and her husband Dan of Selah, Washington. He has twenty three grandchildren, forty nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He also is survived by his only sister Donna Irene Fields of San Carlos, California.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 3 until 5PM at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held Monday, January 20, 2014 at 11 Am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the I.O.O.F. Threemile Cemetery.
