Beverly J. Holste, 80, a resident of Maupin, Oregon died April 25, 2014 at Canyon Rim Manor overlooking the Deschutes River in Maupin, Oregon under the loving care of the staff and Heart of Hospice.
She was born in The Dalles, Oregon on July 14, 1933 the eleventh child to Elmer Henry and Ada (Miller) Snodgrass. She was raised on the family homestead off Victor Road on Juniper Flats. She attended the Victor School finishing her sixth grade year and then moved with her family into Maupin where Bev graduated from Maupin High School in 1951. She worked at Burgetts Grocery Store until she married Donald Holste on July 4, 1960 and started her own family. In the mid 1970’s she went back to work at the Rainbow Tavern where she was on the pool league. She then went to work at the Maupin Hardware Store until the 1990’s. In later years she would be seen about town walking her dog (Spud) until his passing then her daughter Lori’s dog (Abbey) until her own health wouldn’t allow her to walk up and down the hills of Maupin.
She is survived by her daughters Brenda Holste and Tracy Patton of The Dalles, Oregon and Lori Nelson of Maupin, Oregon; grandchildren J.D., Jennifer, Carrie, Courtney, Jessica Patton, Chaylene, Cody Nelson and Cheyenne Emerson. Eleven great grandchildren with number twelve on the way and twin sisters, Sid and Sandy.
Preceding her in death are her parents, siblings, twins Ken and Merle, Elton, Bethel (Bink), Rex, Van (Dick), Dal, Keith and husband Donald in October of 2010.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
