Darrel Wolff

Darrel Ray Wolff

Dufur, Ore.

February 25, 1958 - May 3, 2014

Darrel Ray Wolff, 56, a loyal family man and friend peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones May 3, 2014 in Dufur, Oregon.
Always quick with a "yes" and a smile, Darrel was ready to step up and help. He was a hard-working member of the Dufur Lions Club, served as chair of the Wasco County Economic Development Commission, spent years on the Dufur City Council, including service as Mayor, wrote several grants for the City of Dufur, volunteered for a countless number of organizations, and worked as a local farmer. These are just a small sample of what he did for his community.
Raised on a farm in Central Point, Oregon, he learned the value of working hard and having a good time while doing it. Darrel graduated from Linn Benton Community College in 1978 majoring in Agricultural Studies and Animal Science. He eventually moved to Dufur where he married Lola, farmed, worked for Farm Chemical and Oregon Trail Insurance.
Although community service was always a high priority for him, higher was his devotion to his family. He and Lola raised two daughters; Jaime and Jesica and his step-son Matt together. Although he and Lola dissolved their marriage, they did not drift apart. Family gatherings were always valued by all. Darrel was blessed with one grandson, Ethan, and three granddaughters, Kaylee, Abigail and Kara. "Papa D" took great pride in his role as a grandpa. Darrel was also very passionate about returning to the family farm multiple times a year to spend time with his brother David, niece Jania and all of the dairy cows and pigs.
Darrel is survived by his two daughters: Jaime Pope, husband Nathan and grandchildren Ethan & Abigail; Jesica Wiles, husband Evan and grandchildren Kaylee and Kara; brothers David, Dale and Dean Wolff; niece Jania Schiefer and husband Ty and ex-wife Lola Wolff. He was preceded in death by his father; Robert Wolff and step-son Matthew Jones.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31st at 1 p.m., at the Dufur City Park. A BBQ lunch will be provided.
