Barbara Sue “Bobbie” Wilkerson, a resident of The Dalles, Oregon died at home May 6, 2014. She was 76 years of age.
Barbara was born October 7, 1937 in Farmington, New Mexico the oldest of five children to Dyke and Mary (Mitchell) Devenport. She was raised and educated in Colton California, attending Colton High School. She attended college in San Luis Obispo earning teacher aide certification and sign language interpreter. On November 20, 1957 she and Harold K. Wilkerson were married in Redlands, California.
Barbara had resided in The Dalles, Oregon for the past three years and in Moro, Oregon for twenty years. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in The Dalles. She enjoyed drawing, writing and collecting dolls.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, son Denny Wilkerson, brother Virgil Smith, and great grandson, Riley Scott.
She is survived by her children, Debi Sherman of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; Tom Wilkerson and Ben Weaver of Mariposa, California; Martha Jones and Mary Wilkerson, both of The Dalles, Oregon; Pam Chandler of Durango, Colorado and Bobbie Jo Muldonado of Alta Loma, California; sister Yvetta Testman; sister, Martha Klope, and brother, Richard Smith. Eighteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren also survive.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Multi-Purpose Building, 3339 E. 13th Street, The Dalles, Oregon. A luncheon will follow. Memorial contributions may be sent to 1424 E. 12th Street The Dalles, Oregon 97058.
