Thomas D. Henry, 85, died peacefully at an assisted living facility in The Dalles on Sept 12, 2014. He was born on July 19, 1929 in Friendsville,TN to Obie and Carrie Blair Henry. Tom began his career in the newspaper business in 1948 while serving in the Army in Fairbanks, AK. From 1953-1965 he operated the Baker Feed Mill & Grain Co. in Baker, OR. From 1965-1967 he was a sports writer and editor for the Oregon Statesman in Salem. Tom played semi-pro baseball while in Alaska and Oregon. He moved to Spokane in 1967 and retired in 1990 as the associate publisher and the general manager and editor of Western Farmer-Stockman Magazines. Tom was also an owner, operator and director of duplicate bridge clubs, tournaments and classes over his lifetime. After his retirement, he and his wife Bobbie spent their summers at Lake Coeur d'Alene. In 2011 he moved to The Dalles to be near his daughter.
Tom is survived by his daughter Katie Henry of The Dalles, OR, sons Blair Henry of Sedona, AZ and Dane (Sonja) Henry of Phoenix, AZ, grandson Dylan Henry Higgins of Portland, OR and his beloved former wife Bobbie (Allene) Henry of Coeur d'Alene, ID. Interment will be in Idaho at a later date.
