Elvis passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Sandy Ore., where he resided for the last 8 years. Born on the family ranch in Wasco, Ore., he was the oldest of three. He grew up helping farm wheat. He later moved on to operate Rich Freightlines with his father E.P. Rich transporting stock and farm products to the Willamette Valley. He married Helen E. Hill in August of 1937. Elvis continued long haul trucking well into his late 70's. Elvis was proud of his roots in Sherman County and enjoyed sharing stories of his lifelong adventures.
He was preceded in death by his brother Gordon Rich, sister Marjorie VanGilder, his wife Helen Rich, sons Jack Rich, Dean Rich, daughter Jeannene Rich. He is survived by daughter LeeAnn (Rich) Gibson, granddaughters Verna McClennan, Tara Gibson, grandsons Daniel Rich, Justin Hickman, great grandsons Mitchel and Brian Simantel.
A memorial graveside service will be held Saturday May 2nd 1:00 p.m. at the Wasco Sunrise Cemetery with a potluck gathering following at the Old Wasco Grade School.
