Robert D. Rundell died at age 81.
He was born in Pillager, Minn. the fourth child of Minnie (Pietz) and Paul Rundell. He met his wife Carole in Iowa City, Iowa in 1955, and they moved out west, eventually settling in The Dalles. Robert worked for Ralph's Transfer for 12 years before becoming the maintenance man for the Port of The Dalles. He retired from there in 1995 after 29 years.
He was extremely proud of all his work, including years spent tearing down the old Port dock. He could build or fix anything, and his work can be seen all over The Dalles, including the landscaping around the Port buildings, marina, and Riverfront Park; the docks at the marina and all the signage for the Port.
He was preceded in death by all five of his siblings and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carole M. (Johnson) Rundell; daughter, Jackie (Rundell) Taylor; son, Jerry Rundell; granddaughter, Monica Garcia and her partner, Steve Elliott; and one great-grandson, Killian Elliott.
At his request, no services will be held.
