Janet Marie “Bonneprise” Showalter, 76, passed away November 24, 2015, at home in Dallesport, Wash., with her family by her side. Janet was born January 14, 1939, on a farm in Clatskanie, Ore., to Louis and Alice (O’Keefe) Bonneprise. The family moved to The Dalles, in the early 40s. Janet attended Chenowith grade school, St. Mary’s Academy and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1957. She met Lee Showalter in The Dalles, after his return from the Marine Corps. They were married November 21, 1959. They were blessed with four children.
Janet lived each day with optimism and enthusiasm, she will be dearly missed. Her passion included time spent with her grandchildren, quilting, sewing, cross stitching, gardening, and trips to Long Beach, Wash., clam digging. Janet was a long time member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Janet was preceded in death by two sons, Mike and Jimmy Showalter and siblings Edward and Robert Bonneprise, Irene Ruscher and Berniece Straw.
She is survived by her husband Lee of Dallesport, Wash.; daughter Connie Sechler and her husband Bill of Vancouver, Wash.; her son Greg Showalter and his wife Tedra of Dallesport, Wash. Three grandchildren, Jordan, Josh and Caitlyn, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Mass to be held Friday, December 4, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in The Dalles, Ore.
Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics.
