Virginia L. “Ginger” Sherman, 70, a resident of Tygh Valley, Ore., died November 23, 2015 at a local hospital.
Ginger was born August 3, 1945 in Portland, Ore., the younger of two children to John G. and Mildred Marie (Arnold) Rich. She was raised and educated in Portland graduating from Madison High School. On March 29, 1979, she and Richard Sherman were married in Portland, Ore. Ginger was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Maupin. She was very active in the church. She prepared the church bulletin for over 8 years. She was active in the community. She was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary. Her other hobbies include hiking, reading, walking her dog “Rufus,” boating, and fishing.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Richard Sherman, daughter Teresa Sherman, of Portland, Ore., son Richard T. Sherman Jr., of Portland, Ore., daughter Kimra Davis, of Portland, Ore., five grandchildren, Brandon Fenton, Amanda, Devin, Madelin, and Luke Davis, all of Portland, Ore., and her brother, Dave Rich, of Gresham, Ore.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 12 noon, at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Maupin, Ore., with interment at the Lone Pine Cemetery in Pine Hollow, Ore.
