Clarence Chris Brace, 92, a resident of Terrebonne, OR, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 in the town of Quartzsite, AZ, where he loved spending his winters. He loved the warm weather, wonderful friends, and great music in Quartzsite. Clarence was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in The Dalles, and an associate member of the Covenant Church in Quartzsite.

Clarence moved to The Dalles, OR when he was 14 years old. He went to high school in The Dalles, where he spent most of his life. Clarence was a long time employee of Sears, from which he retired. He worked as a repairman. He loved to fish, hunt, boat, and spend time with his family and friends.

Clarence was born to Andrew and Ida Brace on May 2, 1923 in Englevale, N.D. He was the oldest of five children. He was a WWII vet, landing on Omaha Beach in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged on December 7, 1946. The summer of 2014, Clarence was honored to be included in The Portland, OR Honor Flight, a National organization that allows WWII vets to visit military memorials in Washington DC. He said the trip was one of the most memorable experiences of his lifetime.

Clarence married Nancy Browning in 1946. She preceded him in death, in 1994. They had no children. Clarence married June Bergum on April 8, 1995. He had three step children, Eric Bergum, Carla Moore, and Jan Bergum.

Clarence is survived by his wife, June Brace, his step kids, Eric and his wife Janet Bergum, Carla and her husband Will Moore, and Jan Bergum, five grandkids, four great grandkids, four siblings, Clair Brace, Bud and Jo Brace, Pearl Munsen and Sharon Black, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to him. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Munsen, brother in-law, and Millie Brace, his sister-in-law.

Celebration of Clarence’s life will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials can be made to Faith Luthern Church, 2810 W 10th, The Dalles, OR 97058 or Disabled Veterans, (DAV).
